SMBC Strategy Planning Officer, Vice President in White Plains, New York
SMBC's Credit Risk Review Department (CRVD) is seeking a Senior Credit Data and Portfolio Officer to join its Credit Review Operations and Planning team in White Plains.
Responsibilities include helping to design the methodology for identifying, aggregating, and analyzing trends that may impact our examinable entities’ portfolio. The role will focus on helping to determine the key information required to identify trends and benchmarks for comparison, developing processes for data aggregation and portfolio reporting, automating data collection processes, and designing processes to enhance data quality for key local and head office reporting requirements. In addition, a component of the role is to determine the requirements to rationalize and streamline the production of existing reports in CRVD and to assist with program management of major initiatives.
The analyst will be expected to have expertise in data management, database design and automation, including experience with VBA and SQL programming. Prior experience in a commercial banking environment is required, and knowledge of banking products and credit risk is essential to this role. Experience with program/project management is also required.
Develop data aggregation and reporting capabilities, along with enhanced analytics (including trend analysis) with respect to the credit portfolio for Americas Division;
Develop and implement data quality rules to enhance capabilities with respect to BCBS239 data governance initiatives. Communication and interaction with Data Governance team in Planning Department, Americas Division in reporting identified issues and resolving data quality matters;
Assist the Examiners in Charge to analyze credit metrics and trends to optimize the sample selection processDevelop and maintain an independent Risk Assessment process to analyze and rank the Residual Risk associated with each portfolio
Develop program/project management processes, controls and process redesign.
Minimum of 7 years of experience
Data Management experience
Experience on projects involving business intelligence, data integration, data warehousing, data cleansing and data conversion processes, techniques and / or tools
Experience with source system data analysis and solid understanding of various data and file structures
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power point), SQL, VBA is required
Strong familiarity with banking products and credit risk
Data analysis, understanding of concepts and significant experience working with relational databases, Excel VBA macros and SQL
Business analysis and project management skills
Knowledge and experience with traditional credit products, their processing and related master data are required
Critical thinking, ability to understand the problem, to devise solutions/options, to document and to present to various audiences
Strong analytical skills
Motivated and detail oriented with a strong customer service and delivery focus
Willingness to iteratively search for the correct solutions (independently if needed)
Good interpersonal skills needed for working in a team environment across departments and proven ability to work with multiple stake holders, translate feedback into requirements and deliver high quality work product
Understanding of data management principles and practices
