At CONMED, our Integrated Global Sourcing Team works throughout the supply chain to deliver exceptional results for global teams and operations, ultimately ensuring that our products are accessible to our health care customers around the world. We are seeking a driven engineering student with strong critical thinking and execution abilities to join the team for an internship during Summer 2020.
As a Procurement Engineering Intern, you will learn alongside seasoned professionals through hands on work in supply management and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) in a regulated production environment. You will work with engineering tools, process evaluation and qualification systems, and quality systems and procedures. You will develop operations business acumen through conducting analyses such as cost savings, return on investment calculations and supplier rationalization activities. Your efforts in problem solving, innovation and cross-functional collaboration will directly contribute to taking the site's safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics to the next level.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering student seeking a robust internship within a growing international medical device company based out of Utica, NY, with multiple manufacturing and design sites across the US.
Execution of Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) projects to improve product design and manufacturing process efficiencies to achieve significant product cost reductions
Support a global supply chain team as the technical interface with Suppliers to mitigate disruptions in supply and identify cost out opportunities
Participate in supplier development activities with Suppler Develop Engineers (SDE's) specifically to review supplier innovation suggestions and/or opportunities and the cost of implementation for those ideas
Lead qualification of purchased parts with the chosen Supplier(s) in pursuit of consolidation, cost savings, and risk mitigation
Effectively communication internal requirements for product design and quality to the supply chain to enable success
Interface with other departments, divisions and vendors, etc. to complete assignments, answer questions, resolve problems
Complete reports, maintain files, logs, lists, etc. and complete required paperwork

Pursuing completion of a bachelors or master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or a related field
Availability to work onsite out of the Utica, NY facility, at least partially (1-2 days per week), throughout the summer internship program is strongly preferred.
