Job Description

Plans, organizes and manages the staff and activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged

in preparing and cooking food for patients and patrons of the Hospital. Ensures cooks and kitchen personnel adhere to

established safety and sanitation standards for food production. Ensures food quality.

  1. Coordinates activities of the kitchen staff.

  2. Plans menus, prepares foods for patients, cafeteria and special dining services as necessary.

  3. Maintains safety and health standards regarding proper handling of food. Assists in maintaining area security.

  4. Collects statistical data for continued quality improvement.

  5. Assists in maintaining food inventory and supplies.

  6. Manages and implements staffing requirements

  7. Recommends implements and adheres to approved operating goals, objectives and budget. Reports operational performance, justification and/or corrective action.

  8. Ensures coordination, integration, communication, implementation, integrity and evaluation of operating policies and procedures.

  9. Develops and manages direct reports; and oversees the development and management of their staff.

  10. Builds and maintains productive intra-departmental work relationships to optimize operations.

  11. Ensures operating compliance with government and agency regulations.

  12. Performs any and all related duties.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management or related field, required. Degree from an approved Culinary Institution or Bachelor's Degree in Food Management, preferred.

  • Food Service Managers Certificate, 90 or 120 hour course, preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years related work experience.
