Business Development Representative

C&S Companies is looking to hire a business development professional to lead client/project development in the K-12 Education sector. The role will primarily support our Energy Solutions Group, which provides turnkey energy conservation projects throughout Upstate New York, and our Construction Management Group, which serves as owner representative through all phases of capital construction and renovation projects for school districts and other public-sector organizations.

The individual we seek will provide leadership to manage and direct sales efforts for the K-12 marketplace across NYS and implement strategic business plans consistent with business practice objectives. Must be able to understand the business environment of targeted market segments. Will develop, execute, and lead sales and account strategies to achieve the maximum saturation of services within the K-12 and other, select markets. Will analyze the market and current business performance to aid in developing plans to achieve long-term growth objectives.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain relationships with existing clients.

  • Bring qualified opportunities. Follow business plan objectives.

  • Develop account plans and annual sales plan. Is responsible for all aspects of sales planning, measurement and results, including volume, margin, and activity management.

  • Collaborate with internal teams on all customer presentations and production of proposal materials to ensure differentiated solutions.

  • Utilize established sales performance measurements, processes, and tools to report progress versus plan .

  • Utilize high-level consultative sales and account management practices to develop, close, and maintain accounts. Maintains adequate market knowledge of current technologies and approaches to effectively demonstrate C&S’ value and differentiate our offerings within the marketplace.

  • Attend appropriate industry conferences and maintain relationships via client visitations. 20% travel (within NYS).

Qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Five or more years of experience in direct sales.

  • Experience with complex, technical offerings ideal but not mandatory.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain multiple ongoing business relationships while creating new contacts.
