The Infectious Disease division in the Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University is searching for a physician scientist at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The division has a busy inpatient and outpatient service (general ID and HIV) at SBUH and is affiliated with a VA teaching hospital. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Chief of Infectious Diseases. The Assistant/Associate Professor will be responsible for research, patient care and teaching. The selected incumbent will be expected to develop an independent research program supported by extramural funding.


Required Qualifications: MD or equivalent. B/C in Internal Medicine. BC/BE in Infectious Diseases with a minimum of two years postdoctoral research experience or equivalent research experience, funding track record and relevant publications.

Preferred Qualifications: Focus on translational or basic research, area of interest to include but not limited to microbial pathogens, global health immunology and/or cancer related infections.

Tenure/Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
