Job Description

As a Pavilion Coordinator you will coordinate ancillary services within the Emergency Department. Facilitate patient flow and service excellence.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Promotes customer satisfaction by responding to patient concerns promptly, displaying a positive attitude in interactions with staff, patients and family members. Demonstrates and promotes professional standards of dress, conduct and ethics.

  • Serves as waiting room 'Concierge':

  • Assists patients and families, ensuring comfort and communication.

  • Monitors wait times in ED areas and informs patients/families.

  • Responds to non-clinical issues and seeks to resolve.

  • Provides guidance to Emergency department clerical and service staff in the performance of duties. Interprets hospital and department policies and procedures to staff, fostering understanding and positive acceptance.

  • Ensures overall condition of ED is clean and safe (patient care areas, rest rooms, waiting rooms, etc.). Collaborates with Environmental Services, Engineering, Central Sterile, Materials Management, etc.

  • Assists clinical team members with department work flow. May assign duties to clerical and service staff, as required. Conducts on the job training and provides answers to job related questions.

  • Serves as a liaison between ED staff and other hospital services to expedite the delivery of quality patient care and promote patient flow.

  • Performs 'quick registration' on patient's entering ED, as needed.

  • Answer telephones, respond to inquiries and refers matters to appropriate parties.

  • Maintains Emergency department equipment and supplies. Assesses equipment inventory and enters work orders for repairs or replacements.

  • Coordinates availability of needed equipment. Locates missing equipment and returns to appropriate location.

  • Delivers and picks up various items to Laboratory, Central Sterile, Materials and related departments, as required.

  • Refers major or recurrent issues to ED management with appropriate recommendations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Associates Degree, preferred.

  • Prior customer service experience in a healthcare setting, required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, required.

  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and all levels of hospital staff.
