Roberts Wesleyan College Social Media & Communication Specialist in Rochester, New York
The Office of Brand and Marketing Communications is seeking a full-time Social Media and Communication Specialist to improve and expand our marketing outreach efforts to build positive awareness of Roberts Wesleyan College. This role includes but is not limited to; online customer engagement strategy, writing, copy-editing, blog posts, producing and posting digital content in alignment with brand tone and voice on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and other platforms as designated. Responsibilities also include working with the Brand & Marketing Communications team to develop a unified content strategy which encompasses website materials, app content, and enrollment communications. The Specialist will also be responsible for the development and management of the company's digital marketing assets and efforts. Core responsibilities include content creation; developing and monitoring our social media strategy to increase the efficacy of social media utilization; digital marketing; contributing to web design and campaigns; and managing photography/videography projects.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (strongly preferred) with an emphasis in Marketing, Communications, PR or related field of study preferred; a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in a communications role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, experience with Facebook Business Manager/Ads Manager and other social media management software is preferred.
Required abilities and skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of audiences and build long-term relationships; experience with crafting content that is creative and engaging; ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within the College; ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines while displaying a high sense of urgency and detail orientation; strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail; passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed; proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word; a "Student of the industry" mindset; and experience using content management systems.
