Dematic Customer Service Strategic Procurement Manager in Rochester, New York

Dematic is currently looking for a Customer Service Procurement Manager to join our winning Procurement team. The CS Strategic Procurement Manager is responsible to ensure the speed with which Customer Service can supply price and delivery of spare and replacement parts to Dematic customers; and third party equipment and installation services This includes spend analysis, implementation of category strategies, product feasibility, contract negotiations, capacity planning, forecasting directives, ongoing development and management of strategic supplier relationships, and risk mitigation. Leads cost reductions initiatives involving total cost evaluations, value analysis, alternative sourcing and working close with procurements teams for collaboration and alignment.

Role-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Drive results for team of strategic buyers of direct materials and services which may include: metal fabricated parts; controls/electrical & electronic components; wires and cables; plastic parts; mechanical components; third party equipment and installation services

  • Manage new part creation process through Salesforce and SAP with proper sense of urgency

  • Collaborate with Region Category Leads to implement sourcing strategies which support Customer Service and Procurement objectives

  • Collaborate with a variety of functional areas (such as materials management, engineering, quality and product management) to meet business objectives

  • Identify synergies with customer service procurement teams in other regions

  • Forecast and Drive cost savings initiates

  • Accountable for process/policy compliance and team performance of work in accordance with the KION Group principles & guidelines.

  • Lead continuous process improvement efforts

  • Participate and facilitate in new program quote activities involving pricing reviews with cross-functional stakeholder team members

  • Make sourcing arrangements and determine optimal quality, lead time and pricing for customer service requirements

  • Develop and coordinate set up of new suppliers (if needed) to support requirements for customers

  • Forecast projected savings strategies and record savings to help meet department goal

  • Resolve escalations from weekly project management meetings to fully understand project scope, content with ‘as-is’ risks and installation schedules with critical milestones

  • Work with sourcing Category teams to identify qualified sources of equipment to develop the Project sourcing plan.

  • Prepare project requirements content sheet for Category teams to populate project sourcing plan

  • Ensure team maintenance of supplier delivery date schedule and attendance at project gate review meetings resolving escalations as necessary

  • Act as the main Procurement liaison between management within the Project Management and Engineering functions

  • Conduct post-project reviews with the Project Team and develop pro-active solutions to supplier related concerns for future projects.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related discipline

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in similar role

  • Certified Professional Supply Management (CPSM) (preferred)

  • Strong capabilities in SAP, Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

  • Prefer Lean or Six Sigma certifications; equivalent company training programs may also be considered

  • Operate with a sense of business urgency

  • Experience in working with external raw material, component, or finished goods suppliers

  • Ability to lead, facilitate, and influence change in the face of complexity

  • Collaborative and effective team player with ability to work with teams who are globally dispersed

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; demonstrates innovation and creativity

  • Excellent social, leadership and communication skills. Convincing, Leading, influencing and working through others
