Six Flags Director of Human Resources, The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor and The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark in Lake George, NY in Queensbury, New York


Six Flags is seeking an exceptional candidate to join the organization as our Director of Human Resources. This role partners with the Park President and Senior Leaders to support the business strategy through the people agenda at The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor and The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark in Lake George, NY. This individual is responsible for Human Resources, Safety & Security, First Aid and Environmental Departments. In addition, the Director of Human Resources provides expertise and support in the areas of Staffing, Recruiting, Performance Management, Employee Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion, Policy and Procedure Development, HR/Safety Related Compliance, Resort Security and Safety and Risk Management. The ideal candidate will take a leading role in developing a culture of Team Member collaboration, innovation and performance through accountability and recognition.

The environment is often fast-paced where priorities may change quickly. Applicants must have a positive "can do" attitude to network solutions and handle multiple projects/challenges concurrently.


  • Development of recruitment and employment programs to ensure appropriate staffing levels for the various operating seasons at the theme park, lodge and waterpark.

  • Training, development, recognition, retention and communication for the Resort Teams

  • Capable of building strong partnerships with key stakeholders

  • Lead business transformation through influence and team building. Ability to communicate, engage and be the catalyst for change

  • Oversee and provide direction for the administration of general liability, workers comp and litigated claims handling

  • Responsible for overseeing the safety & security program throughout the Resort

  • Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters

  • Communication, administration and execution of Company and Resort policies and employee benefit programs

  • Research, analyze and monitor all facets of HR, Safety and Security to ensure adoption of best practices

  • Ensure Local and Federal OSHA, DOL and EPA compliance

  • Conducts investigations of charges or allegations of harassment and/or discrimination. Interfaces with legal counsel in consultation with leadership

  • Responsible for developing budgets, operating with established guidelines and forecasting

  • Partnership with Six Flags Corporate to ensure company goals are met

  • Will function as Director on Duty and Duty Manager as assigned

  • Various other duties and projects as part of the Administration function

EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in business, human resources or applicable specialty preferred.


  • 6 years of relevant experience in theme park management with a strong background in the Human Resources and Safety related disciplines

  • High integrity/value driven and results oriented

  • Strong change and influential leader with experience working in a fast paced, transforming environment

  • Excellent analytical skills and trend analysis

  • Strong knowledge of regulations, laws and compliance issues

  • Strong leadership and team building skills

  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication, math and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be computer literate, especially in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including some weeknights, weekends, and holidays
