Purpose: This position provides strategic oversight to the Operating room with the development of innovative processes and systems designed to insure leverage with roles and responsibilities within the Operating Room, avoiding duplication such, while optimizing efficiency and promoting adherence to standard of practices. This role will leverage cross system roles and responsibilities while advancing quality.
Span of Control: Assumes responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling the operational and functional activities covering nursing care to a specific group of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients in the Surgical Services department consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Hospital Administration. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served on the nursing unit or by patient care departments. Ensuring that the nursing care needs of patients are met within an established standard of quality and performance and that these accountabilities are properly integrated with other Divisions as contained in the Long-Range Plan, Annual Implementation Plan and Management Plan of the Department of Nursing.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Master's degree in Nursing or related management. Graduate from accredited school of nursing.
• A minimum of seven years in Nursing and Nursing Leadership experience.
• Knowledge of New York State and Federal regulations governing perioperative nursing.
License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
• Current NYS RN License
• Leadership Certification preferred
