Canton-Potsdam Hospital Manager, Operations Support in Potsdam, New York

Is the primary Business Owner and responsible for the establishment of, and adherence to consistent operational workflows/processes/practices and support systems across the SLHS PPM ambulatory sites, using a data driven/best practices/performance improvement approach. Provides direct project management and aligned support to PPM Leadership.

Operational Workflow Management

  • Primary focus - assesses and audits operational workflow of non-clinical staff in all SLHS ambulatory practices. Provides similar service delivery for clinical staff as needed.

  • Ensures workflows are assessed and audited with a goal of increasing efficiencies based on improving Key Performance Indicators, adoption of best practices or other relevant metric/evidence based practices, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals and values of the health system.

  • Collaborates with PPM Leadership, frontline staff and providers on identified areas of nonadherence to established workflows and/or identification of new workflows.

  • Acts as liaison between PPM and other health system departments to accomplish goals, i.e., IT; compliance, Materials Mgmt., HR, HIM, Performance improvement, Data Analytics, Finance.

  • Validates compliance with existing policies, procedures and regulations.

Training, Education and Onboarding

  • Collaborates with PPM Leadership to establish a complete training program for all non-clinical staff members to promote and implement consistent workflows and work streams across the SLHS Ambulatory practices.

  • Is an identified key contributor in managing the onboarding of new members of the workforce, Providers and Practices in operations and training capacities at required PPM Sites.

  • Collaborates with Clinical Nurse Educator on any training that encompasses both clinical and non-clinical training.

  • Expand the current Section Lead program and integrate across the SLHS Ambulatory practices

Relationship Management and Communication

  • Provides strong and consistent communication with PPM Leadership, providers, and support staff

  • In direct collaboration with Director of PPM: assists PPM management team with investigations of patient complaints and incidents. Performs staff education as needed in resolution of an event.


  • Works in collaboration with SLHS leadership to establish, educate, maintain, and monitor all standards required under the accreditation standards of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and TJC, and all regulators not limited to: DOH/DOL/OSHA. Prepares reports and performs data analytics to inform recommendations on continuous improvement.

  • Assists in facilitating the on-going education of all site providers and staff.
