A home is the single biggest financial investment in a person’s life. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of re-thinking and disrupting this journey. The world of real estate transactions has been largely unchanged and is ripe for innovation. This role is inherently cross-functional with a high degree of visibility. You will work closely with the leadership teams within engineering, design, data science, operations, sales, capital markets, and our executive team to bring features and products to market, and grow business and revenue opportunities.

We work on some of the most strategic areas of the business; you will lead teams focusing on:

  • Credit Decisioning: How do we build a sophisticated decisioning process that is faster, consumer focused and more accurate than anything else on the market. How do we save our customers time? How can machines read financial documents accurately? How do we leverage consumer financial graphs to power ‘better’ personal experiences?

  • Revenue Management & Capital Markets: What is the best price we can offer to our consumers? How do we leverage market factors to control pricing? How do we make it more dynamic and consumer centric? How does lifetime value impact pricing? How do we execute loans in secondary markets? How do we build the best in class investor tools and onboarding experiences? What new loan products can we offer that accelerate our position in the market?

  • Loan Origination: How do we originate loans faster? How can we provide our consumers a streamlined closing process that is how they want it and when they want it? How can we make this antiquated process more reliable & provide more transparency at every step?

  • New businesses: How do build new businesses that add value to the homeownership value chain and expand Better’s value proposition? What synergies and capital advantage can we create using better vertical integration across businesses?

In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to build a world where customers receive the best price for their mortgage, and move through the mortgage process in days vs. weeks. Be part of the team that is at the forefront of building the core operating muscle and brain of the business that powers the entire lifecycle from pre application affordability to decisioning to originating to executing in secondary markets.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Partner with and lead cross functional teams to set product vision and strategy

  • Define and socialize the roadmap of your product area through deep research and understanding of business goals

  • Bringing your solutions to market through ownership of the full product lifecycle: business case development, problem identification, solution design, spec, implementation and go to market

  • Build products that empower our sales, operations, capital markets teams to make better decisions and add delight to our user experience

  • Make magic out of a complex and antiquated industry through intense focus on simplification

  • Go deep into both technical huddles with engineering leaders and strategic discussions with executives

  • Manage competing priorities with consistency and transparency while clearly articulating product plans and progress across the company

  • Be the go to product person for senior leadership when they want advice

  • Identify and measure disruptive areas for the company and drive the execution across teams

  • Manage, mentor and groom PMs working on similar problems

About You:

  • You’ve worked for 8-10+ years in a product management capacity at a technology-driven organization

  • You’re an analytical, metrics-driven leader who is deeply empathetic and leads with a user-centered approach

  • You’ve built, grown, and managed teams of PMs for 3+ years

  • You’re committed to collaboration and are able to work well with other business units to build iterative solutions that continuously deliver value

  • You have a proven track record of entering a new space and building expertise rapidly

  • Your spidey sense enables you to read between the lines and extrapolate ideas which turn into solutions

  • You are not afraid of getting your hands dirty and are equally comfortable balancing tactical and strategic investments

  • You have the mental resilience to know that we're just at the start of a long journey in which change is constant

  • You challenge archaic processes to make them better for consumers by removing friction (aka you live to make complex things simple)

  • You’re a systems thinker with an understanding that spans all levels of abstraction

  • You are comfortable in an ever-changing environment and have a passion for successfully navigating ambiguous problem areas

  • You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and have a proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders and exec teams

  • Bonus: You have worked on complex workflow based products, distributed supply chains, marketplace platforms, pricing engines, algorithmic bidding platforms, capital markets products

  • Bonus: You have a computer science, engineering, operations research, or equivalent technical background
