Position Summary

The primary function of this position is to provide research and administrative support to COVID-19 related projects and HIV-related implementation science projects.

The COVID-19 related projects include two mixed methods studies to test the acceptability and uptake of COVID- testing in the community and in clinic settings and a qualitative study to assess socioecological barriers and facilitators to health promoting behaviors in the COVID era.

The candidate should be trained in qualitative research methods and have experience working on research protocols that collect and analyze qualitative data. In addition, the candidate should be able to demonstrate experience providing administrative support for the management of research awards.


Perform qualitative research activities (50%):

  • Support the development of qualitative data collection protocols, tools, and analytical plans

  • Recruit and screen participants for research activities

  • Conduct qualitative data collection activities including in-depth interviews and/or observations (this might involve travel to other states outside of New York)

  • Transcribe, code, and analyze qualitative data

  • Draft reports based on data analysis results

  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication

  • Contribute to the design and development of health communication materials based on research findings.

Provide research support (40%):

  • Provide support for the development of research protocols and required research documentation including IRB submissions and modifications

  • Assist with the administrative management of NIH awards, including drafting progress reports, subcontractor monitoring, maintaining project-related documents according to NIH guidelines

  • Maintain research data and records in accordance with internal procedures in an organized and transparent manner

  • Facilitate communication and coordination with internal and external research partners

Perform other study-related tasks as directed by the PI (10%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Health and three years' experience or a BA and five years of related experience or equivalent in training, education, or experience.

  • Experience conducting qualitative research

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IRB submission and/or NIH award management

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with field observation

  • Strong written and oral communications

  • Experience in health communications and health literacy a plus.

  • Ability to work independently under general guidance

  • Proven record of analyzing and preparing data for publication

  • Attention to detail a must
