SMBC Sales & Marketing Analyst (Capital Markets) - Temp / Consultant in New York, New York

Overview

SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. (CM) is a derivatives trading company since 1988 based in New York City, with offices in London and Hong Kong. SMBC Capital Markets is an established derivatives dealer with a broad product portfolio, with specific emphasis on interest rates and foreign exchange products such as interest & fx swaps, FRAs, options, exotic products, commodity derivatives as well as exchange traded products such as treasury bonds, interest rate futures & options, currency futures, treasury futures & options, etc.

We are looking to hire a 1-year consultant at the Analyst-level, to provide trade and sales/marketing support to the senior members of the team. This individual will also support Associates and senior-level officers in client onboarding, derivative trade support, trade input, client analysis; including presentations and other administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare periodic Sales & Marketing group reports including P&L and trade reconciliation

  • Oversee the onboarding and the ongoing documentation/back office requirements including Legal, AML, KYC, and Regulatory requirements

  • Prepare credit applications and run trade simulations for credit exposures

  • Liaise with back office to ensure trade confirmations, payments and legal documentation are adequately managed in-line with customer and regulatory expectations

  • Learn to use pricing models and systems to assist marketing team on pre and post trade executions

  • Prepare pitch books, assist in developing and updating spreadsheets, update pricing tables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Finance, Business, or Economics.

  • 0-2 years of work experience (internships at a minimum) in Banking or Financial Services. Preferred: Experience in preparing credit applications, performing cash flow analysis, ability to read and interpret financial statements, and strong accounting skills.

  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and systems. Works well in a culturally diverse and team-oriented environment. Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and an interest in continuous learning.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to synthesize large amounts of information, analyze risk and identify mitigating factors.

  • Self-driven and motivated; takes personal ownership of specific assignments.

  • Highly collaborative and flexible in a team and client environment and ability to form good relationships internally and externally. Able to coordinate and communicate with various internal departments across the bank (middle/back office, global counterparts.)

  • Ability to organize thoughts and clearly articulate points and provide summaries and explanations of transactions, verbally or in writing to management or other internal departments.

  • Able to quickly learn internal policies, processes, and other systems.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner against strict deadlines.
