Macmillan Publicity Assistant, Celadon Books in New York, New York
Description
Celadon Books, a division of Macmillan, is seeking a Publicity Assistant to join their team and provide day-to-day support to the Director of Publicity and the publicity department. Responsibilities consist of both administrative and project work. The ideal candidate will possess excellent time management and prioritization skills, communication skills, as well as strong attention to detail. This is a great opportunity to work with a highly focused team on diverse projects that include fiction and non-fiction titles.
Key responsibilities:
Support the Director of Publicity for Celadon in all facets of their daily work: calendar management and scheduling; event planning; phone, email, letters, memos, and other written correspondence; running detailed sales reports; research on a variety of subjects; understanding of key toolsets (Bookscan, Brandwatch, Muck Rack); other clerical support (notes, memos, etc)
Develop and write press releases, pitch letters, author Q&As, and press kits
Develop targeted mailing lists, identify key audiences on a title-by-title basis, and execute galley mailings
Contact with agents, authors, booksellers, and media
Coordination with marketing on all campaigns
Coordinate all internal and external communications efforts
This is a fast-paced, telephone, email, and internet-heavy position that requires someone with a professional phone manner and the ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Requirements:
Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to multitask while working in a fast paced environment
Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail
Self-starter with the ability to develop new projects and departmental initiatives
Proactive approach to problem-solving
Previous administrative experience
Book Publishing or Publicity/PR internship experience a plus
Helpful to have a working understanding of the literary landscape and a general knowledge of book media, but not required
