Microsoft Corporation Program Management Evangelism in New York, New York

Driving impact by winning the hearts and minds of developers.

We are hiring a Technical Program Manager in the Microsoft Cloud + AI organization, specifically for the Microsoft Reactor Program, our community space and outreach initiative. Reactors reside in key markets around the world, and this role is specific to Reactor NYC. Our global team is uniquely positioned to create new opportunities for developers to meet, learn, and evolve through the Microsoft Reactors, spaces designed to facilitate the exchange ideas and learning. We're excited to support and contribute to open source platforms, tools, and processes and the ever-growing technical community tent that it brings with it. We’re spreading awareness of Azure and enabling developers to do what they love; write, code, and learn.

Enabling communities to fully understand how the Azure Cloud and AI platform can be used individually and together for excellence in the areas of data science, machine learning, and creating new cognitive applications (among other things), is the ultimate goal at each Reactor. We need a Program Manager who will bring deep insight into the way these awesome communities operate so we can offer them the perfect mix of content, allowing us to reach the greatest number of community members. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and proven track record of engaging technical communities and bringing fresh ideas to the technology events and meetups landscape. You should also have the technical chops and love of all things tech that allows you to recognize big opportunities to drive impact with this critically important audience. The Reactors are an extension of the Microsoft brand and what it represents to developers, so having a physical space to host our developer friends make the Reactors a key strategic asset. If you’re the kind of highly motivated person who wants to spend time talking with and influencing the global tech community – we want to hear from you.

As the Technical PM you will be responsible for the day to day operations of Reactor NYC, as well as overseeing the calendar and content planning for its events. You will be responsible for booking and attending events in your space, as well as driving the overall strategy for the growth of the Reactor business. You will be part of a global team that manages the Reactor spaces in other geographies as well. New York is in the unique position of acquiring entirely new space for the Reactor, which means you will have a cool opportunity to be deeply involved in the design and planning from the ground up.

You will be expected to build productive relationships with the Microsoft field offices, Microsoft Cloud Developer Advocates (CDAs), as well as influencers within the community to help evolve and scale your efforts. You will also need to be skilled at using data, experiments and customer feedback to guide your efforts. While based in New York City, this position will require 10-20% travel, primarily to Redmond.

  • A proven passion for technology and professional experience as a developer.

  • 10+ years in the technology industry

  • Experience working with 3rd party communities & influencers

  • The ability to manage operational aspects of a physical space.

  • Personnel management experience

  • The ability to work out of the Reactor in New York as well as the NY field office as necessary
