Location Platform is part of the Facebook Reality Labs organization, tasked with defining and building new products and technologies for emerging hardware and wearable devices for AR/VR, as well as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. We are looking for an experienced product marketer to come and help shape this platform and help people connect with people, places, and things in the real world.
The Product Marketing function serves as the bridge between the product team and the market — serving as the point of view of the market early in product development, and later leading the launch and adoption marketing of a new product. The person in this role will help define and launch location-powered solutions, such as helping businesses get found in searches for businesses nearby and informing new consumer products that help people stay more connected with family and friends.
This role will initiate and lead activities involved in identifying industry, market and consumer needs and opportunities, ensuring clear and differentiated positioning for all products and technology solutions, and develop compelling go-to-market strategies aimed at driving successful user adoption and growth objectives. This role requires working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Market Insights, User Research, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, PR, Finance, and Operations to shape product concept, definition, roadmap, and go-to-market plan aimed at delivering meaningful interactions for clearly defined and receptive audiences.
To be successful, the candidate will bring a combination of strategic vision, communication skills, collaborative mindset and hardware and/or software product launch experience, having worked in highly cross-functional, dynamic environments built to move fast, ruthlessly prioritize, and pivot quickly as needed to incubate future technologies.
This is a full-time position.
Be the point of view of the market within product teams, and help Facebook be an industry leader in responsibly managing location information
Lead market research, competitive benchmarking, customer segmentation, opportunity assessment, etc. to inform product development and prioritize product opportunities
Collaborate and build relationships with product teams across Facebook Inc. (Facebook Reality Labs, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger) to identify and help prioritize their needs in regards to location
Develop product positioning, naming, audience definition and sizing, and go-to-market strategy for a portfolio of products and technologies
Plan and lead cross-functional efforts to drive tests and launches
Lead comprehensive go-to-market strategy and partner with outbound marketing and teams that represent Facebook to partners and businesses to create product marketing communications, including press releases, blog posts, etc.
Drive product adoption and usage by developing and managing adoption plans
Influence cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, design etc.) by building relationships, backing up claims with solid data and analyses, and inspiring change by aligning goals and building a vision
5+ years of relevant product marketing, product management and/or consulting experience
Combination of strategic marketing experience and hands-on tactical execution
Experience with marketing technology products via various channels to consumers, businesses or technology partners
Experience using data and insights to inform and influence product strategy
Experience working in a cross-functional capacity within a fast-paced, changing environment
Communications skills, including experience simplifying complex concepts and develop clear, compelling presentations
Experience in consumer technology, hardware and/or software technology companies
Experience with tools or products for small businesses or consumer social products
Experience with consumer research
Track record in responsibly launching products that adhere to strong privacy principles in collaboration with policy, communications and product teams
