Forensic Risk Alliance Manager – Digital Forensics and Data Processing in New York, New York

Manager - Technology Solutions, Data Processing and Forensics

Our recent growth has created an opening for an experienced professional with a background in Computer Forensics, Data Processing, Data Analytics, Consulting and eDiscovery to support our growing global footprint. This role will report into our Global Director of Technology Solutions and Forensics also based in the New York, NY office and will work closely with the entire Data Governance global team. We are seeking an individual to support FRA with the execution and delivery of forensic collections and analyses, data processing, statistical data reporting, data analytics, and other bespoke solutions. This position will also work closely with the firm?s technology Think Tank with the research and vetting of new technology offerings for the firm and external clients.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with industry-leading forensic, processing, and eDiscovery software including Forensic Toolkit, EnCase, UFED Physical Analyzer, Nuix, Relativity, SQL, and has a thorough understanding of the EDRM, database design and management, legal document review requirements, and data privacy.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Utilize a variety of forensic software to identify, collect, preserve, extract and analyze electronic data from laptops, desktops, mobile devices, servers, cloud environments, backup tapes, and other storage mediums

  • Receive, document, and process client data, ensuring digital content is extracted, validated, normalized, converted and progressed through our operations pipeline

  • Load data into SQL databases, Relativity, and other database platforms

  • Recover deleted user data, hidden data, file fragments, and temporary files

  • Decrypt password protected / encrypted data files and devices

  • Repair corrupt or damaged data and media

  • Compose official forensic reports for use by clients, law enforcement, and/or governmental bodies

  • Serve as a testifying expert in federal, state, and local courts across the US, UK, and Europe

  • Manage and track electronic evidence to maintain a legally defensible chain of custody

  • Adhere to data privacy laws, data movement restrictions, and evidence handling best practices in daily tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop custom forensic tools and scripts as needed

  • Serve as a center of technical knowledge and expertise for the Data Governance department and its clients

  • Manage and maintain FRA?s digital forensic laboratories, equipment, and software

  • Collaborate with team members to identify, trace, and solve data anomalies during processing, including the generation of custom solutions

  • Analyze data and processing results and apply analytical skills to ensure consistency, completeness and accuracy

  • Provide training, mentorship, and leadership to junior members of the team

  • Undertake a variety of internal administrative projects related to collection, processing and review environment housekeeping, test new processes and/or tools, and assist other FRA departments as needed

  • Support clients and team members which may necessitate travel and/or availability in early mornings, evenings, and weekends

  • Assist in recruitment efforts, including resume review, telephone screens, and in-person interviews

  • Assist with business development and marketing efforts

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of five years of relevant digital forensics, eDiscovery, or technical experience [10 years for Associate Director]

  • Degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related fields

  • Thorough understanding of the EDRM, database design and management, data processing activities, computer forensics, legal document review requirements, and data privacy

  • Extensive experience with digital forensic applications employed for collecting, preserving, and analyzing data, such as FTK, EnCase, UFED, XRY, Oxygen, Axiom, X-Ways, MacQuisition, and Blacklight

  • A deep and thorough understanding of eDiscovery applications employed for processing, analyzing and reviewing data, such as Digital Reef, NUIX, LAW, Relativity, and Clearwell

  • Computer programming, coding, scripting, and/or database languages a plus (SQL, Visual Basic, HTML, Microsoft Access)

  • Excellent knowledge of Windows client and server environments, Unix operating systems, and Apple operating systems

  • Experience collecting and processing various data formats, including chat, social media, email, disk images, file shares, structured data, etc.

  • Well versed in financial institution technologies including Bloomberg and Reuters

  • Accomplished at writing forensic expert reports

  • Prior testifying experience desired

  • Prior management experience required

  • Experience attaining ISO 17025 accreditation desired

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and travel globally

  • Fluent English speaker; bilingual a plus

  • Flexibility to travel as needed, up to 40% (domestic and international)

  • Forensic certification required (EnCE, ACE, CCO/CCPA, etc.)

  • Relativity Certified Administrator or other Relativity certification a plus

  • Other database experience considered (Ringtail, CasePoint, etc.)

  • Big 4 experience preferred

  • Must have an active passport and be a US citizen or Green card holder
