General Summary

Under general supervision, responsible for creating and delivering sketch concepts to final technicals of brand appropriate eyewear designs.

Essential Functions

Develop and prepare sketches of new eyewear concepts based on the specifications set per the Brand Brief and licensor requests

Interface with factories to research and develop proprietary and innovative construction details –hardware, material combinations, new production/design, techniques, etc.)

Assist in the continual gathering and sharing of trends in eyewear and fashion markets

Create fully resolved sketchbooks and renderings in illustrator for presentation to licensors

Proficiency in generating fully detailed technical drawings inclusive of section drawings, exploded views and notes for prototyping

Assist in the prototype and CAD assessment/revisions and follow up with QC department to ensure accurate translation of drawings and support product development

Assist in the resolution of design, prototyping and manufacturing issues during the development phase; create fully resolved addendums to communicate and resolve manufacturing and prototyping challenges

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelors of Industrial Design from a 4 year accredited college or university required

5 years experience as an Eyewear Designer preferred

High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop; proficiency in 3-D advanced surfacing in programs such as Rhino, Alias or Pro-E a plus

Practice skills include proficiency in sketching, design vision, concept ideation and development, 2D color renderings and 2D CAD

Proficient in MS Office, word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes

Experience or interest in fashion-related industry a plus

Excellent project management skills

Excellent organization skills, detail oriented and ability to multitask

Ability to elevate the perception of our corporate brand and our company

Flexible and able to quickly and effectively change priorities and direction

Travel domestic and international maybe required

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties

This position generally works in an indoor office environment.
