IBM Competitive Intelligence Champion - Services in NEW YORK, New York
Market Development and Insights (MD&I) professionals help drive IBM actions by delivering trusted, integrated insights and recommendations that improve IBM performance and fuel growth. You will be responsible for identifying competitive trends, providing early warnings on threats and opportunities in the evolving competitive landscape, and evaluating their impact on IBM. You will help decision makers understand the competitive implications of current and potential decisions and drive action across the company through timely, impactful deliverables. You must be able to work in a high-profile, high-impact, and demanding role.
The Competitive Intelligence Champion Program senior analyst is responsible for owning the research and analytical duties in support of the IBM Services Champion program. You will proactively partner with business leaders across IBM Services to understand their priorities, help them frame their most critical business issues, and shape IBM’s strategy to differentiate against the competition.
This is an internal consulting role. Regular duties include strategic assessments, quarterly earnings analysis, tracking of key offerings, marketing assessments to keep key IBM senior executives and functional leaders informed and to drive strategic action across the business. Anticipating competitor’s strategic moves
Benchmarking competitor business processes and approaches including go-to-market, delivery models, and business models
Developing forward-looking monitoring programs that can signal new competitive directions and identify new threats.
Build relationships with a network of key informants inside IBM as well as industry leaders, competitive hires, sellers, and third-party analyst firms. Ability to work with external vendors for inquiry, secondary & primary research.
Leverage field intelligence from geo sales to identify competitive tactics & counter strategies.
Gathering data from disparate sources to synthesize and formulate new insights.
Presentation development and delivery to senior-level internal clients. Direct interactions with the assigned executive sponsors are usually quarterly.
Coaching and development of junior team members.
Must have excellent analytical, business research, strategic thinking as well as written and oral communication skills. Strong preference for candidates with consulting firm work experience.
Travel requirements are limited.
This role can be located in an IBM office in one of these locations.
New York City (preferred)
Westchester County, NY (preferred)
Must have the ability to work in the US without current/future need for IBM sponsorship.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
3+ years client engagement experience presenting to executive level management
2+ years experience in IT industry (as a practitioner, marketer, strategist, or sales)
Previous experience in Services areas such as IT consulting, application services, digital transformation, managed cloud services, and/or infrastructure services
2+ years of project management and consultative skills and disciplines to drive assigned life cycle projects
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Degree in business or computer engineering; Preference for MBAs with strong research & analytical skills
Expertise in Digital and Social Media tools, platforms, techniques and guides
Knowledge of IT market, IBM's Portfolio and Approach
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Understanding of Basic Business and Financial Concepts
Knowledge of Business Analysis and Planning
Understanding of Marketing concepts and methodologies
