NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Assistant Research Scientist/Project Manager in New York, New York
This NIH study will test the effectiveness of an intervention designed to promote COVID testing uptake, adoption of COVID control measures, and mutual aid capacity at the household level. The findings from this study will provide an evidence-base to inform current and future public health initiatives related to COVID-19 mitigation in underserved and vulnerable communities.
The Project Manager will report to Dr. Holly Hagan, Professor, School of Global Public Health, and Director of the Center for Drug Use and HIV Research (CDUHR). The PM will be responsible for coordination and monitoring of field work, specifically recruitment and data collection in New York City Housing Authority buildings in the South Bronx. The PM will also support the PIs in developing reports to be submitted to the funder (NIH) and regulatory agencies (the NYU IRB).
CDUHR is an NIH-funded Center that supports transdisciplinary research to prevent and treat HIV, HCV, overdose, and substance use. Dr. Guilamo-Ramos directs the Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health, which seeks to foster the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based interventions designed to promote positive Latino youth development, and examine and address issues such as immigration and their impact on Latino families and communities.
Monitor progress toward study milestones
Lead and supervise a team responsible for recruiting potential subjects, screening for eligibility, obtaining informed consent, collecting data, and adhering to all IRB approved human subjects procedures
Oversee hiring and training of field staff
Coordinate day-to-day field activities, and maintain records of study progress
Adhere to project timelines and guide staff to meet their target goals
Collaborate with the study’s Intervention Supervisor and Data Analysis Coordinator to assure smooth study operations
Maintain quality standards
Create research reports and participate in regular meetings with the Principal Investigators regarding day to day status of study field operations and emerging issues
Assist Principal Investigators with completing annual progress reports
Assist with additional research activities including assisting the study PIs with submitting protocols to the IRB, manuscript submission, conference presentation preparation, reports, etc.
The initial appointment is a one-year appointment and may be renewed. Continued employment in this position is subject to the availability of grant funding.
