Spectrum Science Account Director, Media Relations in New York, New York

Spectrum is seeking a highly motivated Account Director, Media Relations to develop and execute earned media relations activities in support of marquee clients and brands. The Account Director should have a solid understanding of the health media landscape and ability to craft storylines and identify media trends that will resonate across media and social channels. Position requires an energized, entrepreneurial spirit who works well with others while taking personal responsibility. This role reports to the VP of Media.

Job Responsibilities

  • In partnership with EVP and VP, support the development and execution of media campaigns for pharma, biotech, and corporate clients

  • Provide strategic insight and guidance to account teams using knowledge of the healthcare media landscape

  • Plan and conduct media outreach, coordinate logistics, conduct research, oversee media lists, conduct media pitches, etc.

  • Draft written materials (press releases, media alerts, pitch emails, strategies, project recaps)

  • Identify and predict media trends to provide strategic intel to account teams and clients

  • Drive internal team momentum and progress to meet client deadlines

  • Work with account teams in defining client?s media strategy; ensure brand strategy is adhered to

  • Research and develop relationships with the new generation of media influencers

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the media important to the agency?s clients and stay on top of the changing media landscape

  • Work effectively in a team environment and drive strategy that will meet and exceed client expectations, anticipated/desired results and determine program metrics/what success will look like for each pitch or campaign

  • Proofread and edit media content, as needed

  • Develop client correspondence and reports based on monitoring of trends, media/ social media coverage, etc.

  • Oversee vendors for controlled media activities

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in health & science media relations including data support, activities surrounding medical meetings, development and execution of highly successful media strategies supporting pharma and biotech clients ? agency experience preferred.

  • Exceptional communications, problem-solving, analytical, budget management and business skills

  • Strong writing skills and a track record of success with health and science media

  • BA or BS in Public Relations, Communications, or related field
