The HR Lead develops a clear understanding of the business strategy, operating plans and capability needs of Internal Medicine Medical and Marketing Teams and based on this develops and drives an HR strategy and plans to deliver organizational and business results. Working with leaders and HR colleagues. The HR Lead is accountable for developing a strategy and plans to build, enhance and optimize the capabilities of the client groups across Internal Medicine. Key areas of focus are: organization structure and design, identification and development of leaders, understanding and shaping culture and leadership practice. As such this role works closely with business leaders to drive culture change, build leadership capability and improve organizational effectiveness. Additionally, the person in this role will become involved in projects with the broader Internal Medicine Organization.


  • Gain insights and knowledge to understand the client's business and provide insight, thought leadership, HR functional leadership, vision and creativity to deliver sustainable outcomes

  • Provides individual and functional leadership presence as a member of the Internal Medicine Medical Leadership Team ensuring linkage between organizational, business and people strategies while ensuring delivery of desired results.

  • Provide advice, counsel and direction to leader(s) in the planning, initiation and follow-through on people and organizational change initiatives, anticipating and managing challenges and ensuring achievement of objectives. Develop appropriate HR plans to meet business needs related to organization change and partner with BOS to ensure smooth and effective implementation.

  • Ensure the leadership team is high performing -coaching and developing leaders to ensure effectiveness and delivery of business objectives

  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships across HR and other partners lines to ensure clear communication and effective well-coordinated execution

  • Lead change through a structured approach that gives leaders the tools and resources to manage organizational transition without business disruption

  • Develop a workforce plan linked to the strategic direction of the business including a needs analysis and a talent development plan to address future needs through the development of internal talent and acquisition of external talent

  • Drive a talent development approach which enables the development of high potential colleagues in alignment with business strategies through key experiences (e.g. secondments, special assignments, participation on project teams etc.)

  • Partner effectively with the Global Internal Medicine HR Lead, Centers of Expertise (COE)- Compensation, Employment Law, Employee Relations, HR Business & Operational Solutions (HR BOS) and other enterprise organizations to ensure alignment with HR processes/programs in the business lines


  • 7-10 years direct HR experience in a business partnering role and other disciplines.

  • Strong business acumen combined with the ability to contribute to business strategy and operating plans

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with business leaders to develop, implement and monitor HR programs that enable the achievement of business goals

  • Demonstrated ability to take risks, make independent decisions and evaluate people

  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent interpersonal/influencing skills, including the ability to effectively coach leaders, build relationships and leverage resources within the function and across the organization to advance business strategy

  • Demonstrated success in driving change in a highly matrixed and complex global organization.

  • Excellent knowledge in change management, organization design, talent, performance management, strategic and operational planning

  • Strong problem solving, facilitation and analytical skills

  • Clear thinker - is able to think strategically and can develop simple straight forward, effective and transparent plans

  • Courageous, tough-minded, savvy in business interactions, appropriately pushes back and challenges status quo

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to influence all levels of the organization
