VMware Chief of Staff Carbon Black Sales, Security Business Unit - Opportunity for Working Remotely in New York City, New York

Position Summary

VMware is seeking a Chief of Staff to support WW Sales within the Security Business Unit, CB Sales. This individual will balance a mix of operational, programmatic, and strategic responsibilities in support of this business. It is critical role with a high visibility within VMware. The Chief of Staff has experience in a wide-range of areas with an eagerness to learn new skills. The individual will need to be persuasive, diplomatic, and have strong communication skills; a systems and process-thinker, adept at converting abstract ideas into smooth operations reducing the number of fires for the Vice President, WW Sales to extinguish. It is very important that this individual excels at building relationships and networks and can influence others across all functional areas of VMware in order to achieve outcomes. It is crucial that this individual is deeply loyal and a steel-trap with confidential information as well as comfortable behind the stage, supporting the person in the spotlight, helping them to be their best-selves and anticipating their needs before they are spoken.

The Role

The Chief of Staff will assist the VP, WW SBU Sales for the SBU and his senior leadership team in the day to day management, operational cadence of the SBU Go To Market Organization.


Ownership of Key Operational and Strategic Reviews and Meetings

  • Driving the cadence and content for business, operational, and strategic reviews

  • Coordinating and facilitate operations and strategic reviews such as Go To Market Steering Committee Meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, All Hands Meetings, etc

  • Collaborate with cross functional groups in the annual and semi-annual planning process, headcount allocation, and portfolio management

  • Coordinate/Drive the execution of the plan of record for the GTM Organization

  • Facilitate management meetings, leadership offsites, QBR’s (agendas, action items, etc)


  • Build and drive regular cadence of communications to various stakeholders including internal employees, external audiences

  • Partner with Communications and Marketing to drive customer and company communications and branding related items

  • Preparing for updates and business reviews with the E-staff and the board members

Utility Player – tackling strategic and tactical projects

  • Help define, monitor and track SBU GTM priorities and success metrics

  • Integrate and focus SBU GTM initiatives, projects and activities in support of priorities

  • Create and strengthen cross-functional bridges, enabling collaboration and alignment toward SBU goals

  • Liaison with cross-functional teams within the SBU and the wider VMware ecosystem on specific initiatives

  • Drive special projects and strategic projects tied to M&A and leadership

Support for VP, SBU Sales

  • Manage VP’s companywide, customer and public appearances, prioritizing key meetings, visits and presence of VP where needed

  • Collaborate with Executive Assistants on agendas and designs for office and customer visits, tours, etc.

  • Manage escalations based on VP’s needs

  • Provide overall support to SBU GTM organization for VP, including serving as delegate on various Steering Committees and meetings

  • Work with VP and HR to execute change management, hiring, recruiting, etc

  • Serve as sounding board, trusted advisor and “feet on the street” for the VP.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in sales, sales management, communications and operations helpful

  • Strong capability in cross functional project management
