Job Description

POSITION

SUMMARY

Protects and safeguards hospital property,

personnel, patients and visitors. Maintains order, detects crime and works to

prevent future occurrences; operates hospital vehicles; enforces Hospital

Security policies. Assist in the

investigation and surveillance of patient, visitors and employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES












1.

Patrols and monitors buildings and grounds to protect

life and property and to prevent fire, thefts, vandalism, illegal entry and

enforce hospital policies.

2.

Enforces access control policy. Secures doors, locks, etc. and activates or

de-activates alarms, as required.

3.

Controls and regulates pedestrian and vehicular traffic

in a safe, orderly and respectful manner.

4.

Operates and maintains facility vehicles in accordance

with regulatory compliance and policies.

5.

Operates and maintains all security and facility

equipment in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines and facility policies.

6.

Writes incident report in accordance

with policies and procedures to document events.

7.

Checks contents of packages.

8.

Restrains patients and unruly persons, on the hospital

grounds and in buildings; assists security personnel in the performance of

their duties, through the use of physical force, when required.

9.

Reports all fire hazards and safety violations. Escorts

Hospital personnel, as

required.

10.

Assists in surveillance of high profile patient/visitors

and associated records.

11.

Assist in the investigations of visitors, patients and

employees and makes recommendation

12.

Performs related duties, as

required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

EXPERIENCE

AND QUALIFICATIONS

*

High

School Diploma or equivalent, required.

*

Active

sworn law enforcement of a US State or Territory, required.

OR

Retired sworn law enforcement of a US

State or Territory, required AND possess a valid Pistol Permit, which

authorizes the permit holder to carry a pistol in the geographical area of

their employment, required AND Valid NYS Armed Security Guard License,

required.

*

Valid

NYS Drivers License

OR

Valid NYS CDL Permit (Class B-with

Passenger Certification valid for air brakes) within six (6) months of

employment, required based on operational needs of a specific Business Unit.

*

Obtain

authorization to carry a firearm from the Vice President of Protective

Services OR the Corporate Director of Security.

*

Basic

Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification within orientation period,

required.

*

Minimum

of one (1) year experience as a Security Officer, preferred.
