Museum Building & Grounds Associate

Hours/Days: Full-time; 40 hours per week. This position requires a minimum of two (2) third
shift (11pm-7am) rotations per week. Ability to work weekends and holidays are also required.

Primary Function: To work as security as well as provide janitorial, general maintenance,
landscaping and snow removal support. Job duties will vary based on shift worked.

Job Duties:
Security (40%)
Primary Function: To patrol Museum property, monitor for trespassers, fire and hazardous situations;
to assist with the general maintenance and upkeep of the Museum buildings and grounds; assist with
guests and events as needed.

Duties:
Perform designated rounds and inspect for:
Monitor HVAC, coolers, freezers and kitchens
Routine inspection of steps, ramps and walkways and paths for safety
Maintain all interior and exterior lighting
Report safety hazards to Sr. Director of Operations
Monitor all used fireplaces and wood stoves
Accompany inspectors and contractors while on site
Monitor alarms - communicate with Monitoring companies and Director as required
Carry two-way radio and cell phone on person as required
Assist with the logistics of special events and rentals setups
Maintain cleanliness of security vehicle
Other tasks as assigned

Janitorial Support (20%)
Primary Function: To provide janitorial services to ensure a clean, safe, and pleasant environment
throughout the historic village & museum complex.
Duties:
Sweeping
Mopping
Vacuuming
Dusting
Cleaning restrooms
Washing windows (may include climbing a ladder)
Trash collection
Maintain orderly supply closets
Notify management of needed repairs
Facilities Assistant (40%)
Primary Function: Assist the Facilities Manager with the general maintenance and upkeep of the
museum buildings and grounds, as well as, the implementation of operational procedures, programming
logistics and site preservation.

Physical requirements include:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Able to climb and work safely from ladders
Ability to do heavy lifting such as moving tables and furniture, pick up and empty trash
receptacles, shoveling snow (lift up to 50 pounds)
Stand and walk for long periods of time
Standards
Work efficiently, courteously and professionally with a wide range of staff and volunteers
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
Exhibit a positive attitude
Communicate in a friendly and hospitable manner at all times
Represent the museum in a professional way including appearance
Be sensitive to the cultural differences as represented by the Museum's collections, educational
mission, and audience.

Qualifications:
Valid NYS driver's license
First Aid and CPR training are a plus
