The Manager of
Integrative Medicine ensures the coordination and optimal delivery of
integrative medicine services to NWH patients, staff and caregivers. The Manager
provides training and mentorship to direct care providers and community
volunteers on the role integrative approaches play in the standard of care of
NWH patients. In addition, the Manager provides direct intervention utilizing
integrative therapies as required. The Manager also assists the Vice President
of Patient Advocacy and Service Excellence in mentoring staff on the Planetree
philosophy of creating patient-centered care in a healing environment. The
Manager is also responsible for maintaining outcomes data pertaining to
Integrative Programs and brings forward Best Practices for review and possible
integration into our therapeutic milieu.
Recruits, trains, and mentors direct care providers and community volunteers on the role of integrative medicine in the care of NWH patients and caregivers by:
Developing, scheduling and providing training and in-services to staff.
Mentoring direct care staff while they are providing patient care on the benefits and practical application of selective integrated modalities.
Mentoring staff to gain advanced training and certification in integrative approaches.
Monitoring statistics of volume and outcomes data.
As a Planetree Facilitator:
Assists the Vice President of Patient Advocacy and Service. Excellence in bringing forward the Planetree philosophy to staff and volunteers by facilitating regularly scheduled Planetree staff retreats.
Evaluates and develops new curriculum for Planetree/Service retreats and presentations.
Acts as a liaison, between patients and the Patient Advocacy Department to assure service excellence.
Facilitates and/or participates in hospital committees and meetings, Holistic Committee/Council, Shared Governance, Wellness Committee and Planetree Steering Committee.
Liaison with medical and nursing staff on the role of integrative medicine for staff:
Provide in-services to medical and nursing staff groups as requires.
Produce and distribute regular updates on integrative medicine initiatives being implemented in the hospital to staff.
Maintain outcomes data and prepared quarterly and annual reports.
Meets with Physicians to understand their patient's needs (pain management, comfort, decrease anxiety palliation, nausea reduction, etc. and develops programs in concert with the Physicians.
Provide integrative therapies to patient, caregivers, and staff at the NWH by:
Providing comprehensive evaluations of clients integrative medicine needs.
Develop treatment plans to address identified needs.
Providing integrative therapies as indicated.
Maintaining clinical records as outlined in the NWH policies and procedures.
Documenting pre and post outcome using evidence-based tool and methodology.
Provide the latest evidence/research on Integrative Medicine.
Understands and holds practitioners accountable for productivity, documentation and reimbursement measurement.
Understands and researches possible funding/grant sources and works with the hospitals Foundation.
Works with Nursing Educators to incorporate modalities in the daily care provided by frontline Nursing and staff Patient Care Associate.
Performs other duties as assigned. *ADA Essential Functions Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field, required. Master's Degree, preferred.
Minimum of five (5) year's experience in integrative medicine, preferred.
Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
Demonstrated evidence of continuing education.
Additional skills in Complimentary Medicine, such as Energy Medicine, Hypnotherapy, Guided Imagery, Meditation Technique, preferred
