Elderwood at Liverpool is searching for a charismatic, compassionate, and organized Registered Nurse Educator (RN) to aide our busy 160 bed Skilled Nursing facility in Liverpool, NY. What our Nurse Educators Do:
The Nurse Educator will be responsible to work collaboratively with management staff and nursing goverance representatives to ensure implementation of orientation and continuing inservice education programs for facility personnel. Also serves as the secondary Instructor for the Nursing Assistant 100-Hour Training Program.

The Nurse Educator will also be responsible for:
Leading our in-house BLS certification program; maintains equipment and records.
Assistant 100-Hour Training Program and the facility policies and procedures for direct nursing care required.
Leading the IV certification program based on facility needs
Collaborating with Nursing Leadership by assisting with annual clinical skills competency testing for licensed nursing staff on an ongoing basis.
Serving as a resource & mentor for the Nurse Preceptors & new nurses in the facility, providing education and support as appropriate during department based orientation.
Leading the delivery of corporate mandatory inservice education for facility staff during designated months biannually.
Planing and leads General Orientation Program (with support by other department heads) to acquaint new personnel to facility.
Coordinating program development, implementation and documentation of the Nursing Assistant 100-Hour Training Program; serves as an instructor for scheduled classes.
Coordinating Prometric testing for Nursing Assistant Trainees and recording of certification.
Schedules and delivers CNA and Support Aide orientation programs based on hiring needs.
Scheduling and presenting training programs to ensure that Nursing Assistants complete six hours of inservice education every six months.
Overseeing tracking of inservice education hours and generates reports utilizing Relias LMS.
Enrolling staff in Relias programs and tracks module completion and compliance.
Periodically rotating through and serves as an instructor for the licensed nurse orientation program at designated sites.
Coordinating with Department Heads department based orientation program for new staff.
Prepares monthly inservice education calendar and monthly report.
Coordinates the schedule for periodic emergency drills including fire drills, disaster drills, and Code Blue drills and maintains records.


What it takes to be a Nurse Educator:

Educational Requirements & Qualifications
Credentials as a Registered Nurse (RN) with current state license in good standing in the state in which work is performed.
Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in geriatric nursing; acute care setting preferred
Demonstrated computer skills and ability to work with a variety of platforms and applications including Microsoft Office, electronic medical records (EMR) and learning management systems (LMS)
Possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
Demonstrated experience in education preferred

Dynamic presentation skills in both small and large group settings
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Displays leadership qualities and characteristics
Highly organized, able to prioritize and meet and enforce deadlines
Displays empathetic, compassionate attitude
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong decision-making ability, able to be fair and consistent
Ability to connect and with a variety of learners using effective learning techniques
