Lutheran Environmental Services Attendant in Jamestown, New York

Hultquist Place, Lutheran's Assisted Living Program, is currently seeking a Part-Time Environmental Services Attendant for 3rd Shift. Hours are from 10pm – 6am.


The position serves Hultquist Place in providing a clean, attractive, safe and sanitary environment through cleaning various environmental surfaces and performing a variety of routine and corrective cleaning procedures along with processing residents personal laundry.


Must be at least 18 years old. A high school diploma or GED preferred. Experience in institutional cleaning is preferred but not required.

Job Duties:

  • Follows written and oral directions as directed

  • Collects equipment and supplies for daily use

  • Buffs floors with floor machines and maintains a monthly buffing schedule

  • Cleans carpets, upholstery, furniture and mats with carpet machines

  • Performs basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing to determine proper dilution rates for chemicals

  • Moves equipment and furniture for cleaning and rearranging of offices, resident rooms and dining areas

  • Follows duty lists the way they are written

  • Performs the 10-step cleaning process effectively and consistently

  • Ensures all turnover rooms are standardized and ready for new residents

  • Audit scores are satisfactory or improving

  • Keeps utility and storage areas clean and in orderly condition, no food or beverages

  • Washes bed and mattresses

  • Cleans stairwells, elevators and baseboards

  • Dusts and mops floors in corridors, entrances and other areas as assigned

  • Interacts with resident and follows up on requests in a timely manner

  • Follows all safety procedures and uses personal protective equipment effectively and as required

  • Notifies management of equipment needing repair. Reports safety hazards to management

  • Returns unused supplies to appropriate area at the end of the day. Keeps carts neat and orderly at all times.

  • Does not use company phone or cell phone while on the clock. Personal cell phones are only used during break time.

  • Substitutes in laundry department when needed or as day time housekeeper

  • Assists with various studies being performed for housekeeping or laundry purposes

  • Is in proper uniform every day: appropriate pants, uniform top, slip resistant shoes, ID badge

  • Monitors medical supplies, orders and unloads cart

  • Monitors and orders incontinent products and stocks rooms as needed

  • Assures linen rooms are clean and linens properly sorted and stacked

  • Makes beds as needed and washes mattresses

  • Strips beds and removes linens and laundry from discharged rooms. Changes bed in rooms when resident is hospitalized or in rehab

  • Collects and washes/dries personal clothing and prepares clothing for the return of the resident

  • Labels clothing

  • Irons clothing as needed

  • Assures laundry room vents are clean and floors are swept and mopped
