You will be a key contributor to our efforts to provide the technical and regulatory expertise necessary for advancing such critical initiatives as product safety, emissions, fuel economy, vehicle recycling and much more.

What you will be able to do

You will play a key role in helping us live out our commitment to the highest standards of environmental stewardship. You will provide technical and regulatory environmental support to our plant manufacturing team at the Buffalo Stamping Plant daily. This involves preparing required regulatory reports (e.g., air, water, waste, CO2, etc.) and responding to any agency inquiries. You will collaborate with various teams and our corporate office to identify innovative ways to reduce water consumption, waste generation and material usage. You will:

  • Provide technical and regulatory support for environmental media/operational subjects, including ISO 14001 issues

  • Support achievement of business plan objectives and targets (e.g., compliance index, water, waste, energy, and hydrocarbon)

  • Develop accurate and complete documentation to support facility/manufacturing environmental compliance and business plan objectives/targets

  • Supervise progress and spending on environmental capital and expense projects

  • Manage Total Waste Management contract

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory/corporate requirements for the handling, storage and disposal of waste

  • Provide required environmental waste training to plant employees

  • Support technical aspects of environmental systems at facilities

  • Utilize environmental software applications (e.g., GEM, MATS, PERS, Business Objects, SharePoint, etc.) to help achieve business plan objectives/targets

  • Build strong, productive working relationships with environmental professionals and manufacturing/non-manufacturing contacts

  • Employ standard procedures and best practices to ensure environmental compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of applicable national, regional and local environmental requirements

  • Represent Ford’s interests on environmental matters with local, regional, and national regularly agencies, community groups, etc.

  • Support facility and product programs through vital permit actions, capacity planning studies and environmental project funding requests

  • Fundamental understanding of environmental rules and regulations

The minimum requirements we seek

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • One or more years of experience within a manufacturing facility

Our preferred requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • Strong interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office
