The Assistant Director will aid in the Food and Nutrition Directors implementation of Food and Nutritional services of the Developmental Disabilities Division of the New York Foundling created by the Director. The Assistant Nutrition Director will report administratively to agency’s Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
Assists in compliance to food handling and storage policies that will assure food safety in all NYF DD residential facilities.
Provides nutrition training and education for residential staff addressing issues of food safety, balanced meal planning and healthy snack alternatives as well as any special diets that residents may require.
Provides nutrition assessments, counseling, trainings and kitchen assessments for case load provided by Director.
Functions: Assess and follow individuals that are at nutrition risk in accordance with case load. Assists Director in analysis of data pertinent to the health and well- being for the DD program. Reviews records of weights and BMI’s with director quarterly to help assess the areas that are in greater need of nutrition services and training. Assists Director in the planning of education as it relates to the most current Dietary Guidelines for Americans Helps implement food handling and storage policies and procedures for NYF programs. Make routine NYF site visits to residential facilities to ensure all dietary guidelines are followed as needed. Helps coordinate Client Visit Group sessions as they are planned

NYS Certification Dietitian-Nutritionist
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
3+ years clinical experience
Experience directing, implementing and creating nutrition materials/menus and statistical analysis
