The Senior Accountant performsday-to-day financial accounting and reporting responsibilities related to the Company’s various entities, including joint ventures. Oversees staff work related to multiple accounting processes, including revenue, cash, joint venture and economic partnership accounting, accruals and recurring expenses. Provides daily guidance and information to staff accountants as well as formal supervision. Prepares and distributes joint venture financial statements and other company accounting reports. Contributes substantially to the accuracy, timeliness and integrity of the general ledger, financial statements and reports.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for overall governance of the general ledger. Monitors and reviews accounts for propriety and reasonableness, investigates questionable transactions, forms reasonable conclusions, makes recommendations and prepares adjusting journal entries, as appropriate. Reviews and approves journal entries and account reconciliations. Identifies, researches and corrects account discrepancies.Supervises cash management for Managed entities. Reviewsand recommends process improvement for financial month-end close process, reconciliations and journal entry preparation methodology.
Reviews financial statements, including joint venture, managed and consolidated, to ensure accuracy and recommends adjusting entries as appropriate. Reviews distributions and intercompany settlements. Identifies crucial factors affecting profitability and associated costs. Reviews and processes selected contract agreements for managed and joint venture entities, as needed.
Researches and discusses complex accounting and reporting issues related to significant Company transactions and financial reporting process, including newly formed joint ventures, site divestitures, physician compensation, accounts receivables and bad debt reserves. Assists with accounting due diligence related to new acquisitions. Performs technical research as needed.
Leads and motivates staff. Provides guidance and information to staff accountants including day-to-day oversight and direction. Ensures local financial controls and provides accounting support to local operations team.
Assists Accounting Manager with the preparation of internal and joint venture partner, managed entity financial reporting and analysis. Assists with requests in connection with annual financial statement audit and internal control audits. Coordinates communication with managed entity CPA and other professional services providers.
Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
4-6 years of related Accounting experience required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plain and Management Reporter software preferred.
Supervisory and public accounting experience preferred.
Moderate to Advanced Excel skills.
