SEFCU Accounting Specialist - Mortgage in Albany, New York

Overview of the Role
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the preparing various daily and month end reconciliations, inputting all general ledger (G/L) journal vouchers, and depositing various checks to SEFCU accounts. This individual is also responsible for the processing of accounts payable transactions.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Process accounts payable transactions
Determine if invoices are properly coded and approved
Verify and match invoices to purchase orders when applicable
Prepare checks for signature and disbursement to vendors or employees for reimbursement
Ensure compliance with W-9 forms from vendors
Work closely with other areas to resolve AP issues
Deposit checks associated with loan applications, closings, and funding as well as remittances from vendors
Retrieve, sort, and distribute incoming department mail
Process and input G/L entries
Prepare various reconciliations
Develop working relationships with fellow employees (both within & outside of the dept) to resolve issues as they arise.
Cross train with other accounting staff for department coverage and to provide assistance when necessary
Assist with the creation, review, and maintenance of accounting department procedures
Direct or help answer calls, questions, or problems for members, staff and management
Other duties as needed
Credentials, Experience and Skills
A minimum of 1 year of related experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
General ledger reconciliation and resolution experience strongly preferred
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
